From Circles

Think of a circle  think
our planet
Earth
solid globe
spinning   holding us
holding
ocean and forest and drifting
deserts
in the blackness of space

Think of the sun
our blazing disk  our
daystar
and the planet spinning from
day into night and
return
Think of all that light
washing over us
flowing into starlight dark-
A whirling cycle of days
and nights

Plastic World - Why Plastic is Bad for Our Environment and How We Can Fix It

I'll start with this, Plastic is useful. We use it for everything from carrying groceries home to eating and drinking out of. Plastic can be used for pretty much everything, but where is it going? What happens to it once we throw it away? Does it disintegrate? Does it decompose?

The answer is, No and No! Plastic never goes away. It stays in the environment forever, and it collects in the Oceans and landfills. In the Ocean sea animals mistake bits of Plastic for food. The ratio of Plastic to food for sea animals in the Ocean is 10 to 1. (10 Plastic to 1 Food)

We used to make fishing nets out of things that would disintegrate and decompose. Now we use plastic, and that means that animals can get trapped in nets for years and years. The nets will never go away. Back to the animals eating plastic though, when we eat fish we are eating a little plastic too. Yuck!

There is even a place in the middle of the Ocean called the Pacific Garbage Patch. It's not an island of garbage like most people think. It's plastic bits swept up by the Ocean's currents, and floating in the middle of the Ocean like a plastic smoothie. Plastic also attracts chemicals like a magnet. So, even if the sea animals aren't eating the plastic, they are getting poisoned by the chemicals.

The sad thing is, you cannot wholly avoid plastic no matter what you do. It's everywhere, on everything, and in everything. Almost half the plastic we use is single use, and then we throw it away, into the Ocean. We don't need plastic. It's not essential for life. So, why are we using so much of the thing we don't need to rely on when it's destroying the environment? Because it's cheap. Plastic could damage the environment to the point of no return. Do we really want to live like that? I know I don't!

The top three sources of plastic waste, as far as I know, are Plastic bags, Water/Pop/Soda bottles, and Food packaging. A few things that I'm going to do to help the environment are:
  1. Get things to drink in plastic bottles as little as possible
  2. Stop using plastic bags
  3. Reuse plastic containers from food instead to buying reusable containers

Jimmy Jet and His TV Set

I'll tell you the story of Jimmy Jet--
And you know what I tell you is true.
He loved to watch his TV set
Almost as much as you.

He watched all day, he watched all night
Till he grew pale and lean,
From 'The Early Show' to 'The Late Show'
And all the shows in between.

He watched till his eyes were frozen wide,
And his bottom grew into his chair.
And his chin turned into a tuning dial,
And antennae grew out of his hair.

And his brains turned into TV tubes,
And his face to a TV screen.
And two knobs saying 'vert.' and 'horiz.'
Grew where his ears had been.

And he grew a plug that looked like a tail
So we plugged in little Jim.
And now instead of him watching TV
We all sit around and watch him.

Jabberwocky

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Eletelephony

Once there was an elephant,
Who tried to use the telephant—
No! No! I mean an elephone
Who tried to use the telephone—
(Dear me! I am not certain quite
That even now I’ve got it right.)
Howe’er it was, he got his trunk
Entangled in the telephunk;
The more he tried to get it free,
The louder buzzed the telephee—
(I fear I’d better drop the song
Of elephop and telephong!)

Luna Di Angelo

If you are a Percy Jackson fan, then this will be interesting. I love LARPing, and me and my friends have our own LARP based on Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Inheritance, and more. We all have our own awesome characters, and I have a new one.

Her name is Luna di Angelo. She is the twin sister of Nico di Angelo, and daughter of Hades. She is too cool. Her hair is black, her eyes are dark, and she blends in with the shadows. She's been through Tartarus and back. Being Nico's sister is difficult because neither of them talk much, but Luna is still a cool character.

A cool character should have a good introduction so her she is... Her story is starting now...

The Folk Who Live in Backward Town

The folk who live in Backward Town
Are inside out and upside down.
They wear their hats inside their heads
And go to sleep beneath their beds.
They only eat the apple peeling
And take their walks across the ceiling.

Sunflakes

If sunlight fell like snowflakes,
gleaming yellow and so bright,
we could build a sunman,
we could have a sunball fight,
we could watch the sunflakes
drifting in the sky.
We could go sleighing
in the middle of July
through sundrifts and sunbanks,
we could ride a sunmobile,
and we could touch sunflakes—
I wonder how they'd feel.

Noise Day

Toot a whistle, kick, a can,

Bang a spoon against a pan,

Sing, yodel, bellow, hum,

Blow a horn, beat a drum,

Rattle a window, slam a door,

Scrape a rake across the floor,

Use a drill, drive a nail,

Turn the hose on the garbage pail,

Shout Yahoo—Hurrah—Hooray,

Turn up the music all the way,

Try and bounce your bowling ball,

Ride a skateboard up the wall,

Chomp your food with a smack and a slurp,

Chew—chomp—hiccup—burp.

One day a year do all of these,

The rest of the days—be quiet please.

Somebody Has To

Somebody has to go polish the stars,

They’re looking a little bit dull.

Somebody has to go polish the stars,

For the eagles and starlings and gulls

Have all been complaining they’re tarnished and worn,

They say they want new ones we cannot afford.

So please get your rags

And your polishing jars,

Somebody has to go polish the stars.

Early Bird

Oh, if you’re a bird, be an early bird

And catch the worm for your breakfast plate.

If you’re a bird, be an early early bird—

But if you’re a worm, sleep late.

I Must Remember!

I must remember . . .

Turkey on Thanksgiving,

Pudding on Christmas,

Eggs on Easter,

Chicken on Sunday,

Fish on Friday,

Leftovers, Monday,

But ah, me—I’m such a dunce.

I went and ate them all at once.

Dwarf Runes And Tablets!

J. R. R. Tolkien created Elvish and Dwarf runes, and I have decided to make my own Dwarf runes for LARP games and so on. If you don't know what LARP is it's Live Action Role Playing, but that's not the point. I created a different set of Dwarf runes for other Dwarfs. The First Picture is of the Dwarf Rune Tablets, and the second is of the Dwarf rune sheet!

The Lord Of The Rings Poem!

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost,
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost,
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken:
The crownless again shall be king.
